If you are planning a wedding and like us, you are already dreaming about the honeymoon.
But, if you are like us, then taking a week or two off from work after taking time off to get married may not be feasible. There are many reasons why more couples are taking mini-moons directly after the wedding.
Here's why we loved our two night stay at the Ritz Carlton in Charlotte, North Carolina after our wedding.
1. Allow time for much needed R&R
Our wedding day and everything leading up to it was amazing, but it went by so quickly and felt like a blur. On the morning after our wedding, we woke up and were able to truly relax without having anywhere to be. We ordered breakfast to our room and enjoyed sharing memories from the weekend. It was probably the best breakfast I've ever had complete with mimosas, muffins, eggs, bacon, fruit, coffee, toast, and more.

After breakfast, we headed to the spa for a couple's massage. The massages were SO relaxing and much needed. For the rest of the day, we relaxed by the pool and tried fun snacks and cocktails from the pool menu. It was the perfect way to spend our first day as a married couple.

2. Have the longer honeymoon to look forward to after the wedding
There's so much time and preparation that goes into planning a wedding that when it's over, it is nice to have something else to look forward to. We got married in September and planned a longer honeymoon in December to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
We used a wedding registry website called Zola that allowed our guests to give honeymoon experiences as wedding gifts. This was great because it allowed our friends and family to be a part of our honeymoon by giving us things like a champagne breakfast and zip lining.
3. See friends and family
We were so fortunate to have friends and family travel from all over the world to be a part of our wedding. By spending our mini-moon locally, we were able to have brunch with friends from Germany before they left and Sam's college friends dropped by the Ritz to bring us a bottle of bourbon to celebrate.
The opportunity to have everyone you love in the same place doesn't come around often, so we were able to enjoy every minute of it by staying local.
*Note: We wanted to be completely disconnected from social media and devices on our mini-moon, so I did not bring my camera. Special thanks to Terrapin Bright Green and Ask Miss A for the pictures of the Ritz Carlton.
